I attended the University of Iowa, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Certificate in Museum Studies. While there, I focused on American History and African/World History. My goal is to return to school to earn a Master of Arts.My tutoring experience includes working with both traditional and non-traditional students in History and similar classes. In my tutoring sessions, students gain a core grasp of topics, as well as skills for improving writing and test taking. We also focus on varied themes throughout history. I have experience working with students who have learning and mental disabilities. My specialties are Geography and History (American, European, and World). I am passionate about both, and I love teaching students how awesome these topics can be. I am also available to tutor a variety of other subjects, including Reading, Writing, Essay Editing, Literature, Public Speaking, and general Social Studies. Additionally, I can assist with various standardized tests, including the IB and SAT. I believe students learn more quickly when they are comfortable and relaxed. While education is an invaluable component of life, I feel learning should be something we enjoy. I try to keep tutoring sessions from becoming an added stressor. I am mindful of my students' individual learning styles, and I tailor my methods to best suit them. In my personal life, I love to travel! I have spent time in the UK, and I look forward to seeing more of our wide world. When I'm at home, I enjoy dogs and getting involved with sports.
